Promissory note (6th or 7th century) This is an undertaking by a zugostatês or inspector of weights to pay over a sum of money on behalf of the village of Popano. It is addressed to 'the honourable house of the all-honoured patrician', represented by a comes, and belongs to the Apion papers. The reason for the payment depends on the interpretation of the word anairethentos in l. 5.
