Receipt for Tax on Beer

(A.D. 61)

The tax upon beer, which was a regular impost in both the Ptolemaic and Roman periods, is the subject of this receipt and P.Fay.047A, which acknowledge a number of payments on this account from a certain Petesuchus, amounting in the one case to 8 drachmae, in the other, probably referring to the following year, to 12 drachmae.
