Beginning of a contract (VIth Century AD) The beginning of a contract agreed with Flavius Helladius, scriniairius in the offices of the dux of Thebaid. A certain Menas had been reduced by poverty to give up the freedom of his youngest daughter, in return for a nomisma. After her father's death, the elder sister, Martha, following the profession of salt fish merchant, sought the help of Helliadus to buy back her younger sister - who her master claims the right to keep.
