Petition to an Irenarch

(Late 3rd/early 4th century A.D.)

Petition to the irenarch of Karanis, from Isidorus, son of Ptolemaeus. He complains that 15 days earlier a certain Apynchis and a female slave of Atisius made a nocturnal raid on his property and carried off a quantity of grain and a hair sack. When Isidorus attempted to put them under arrest, Apynchis assaulted him.
